Other ESB Solutions
Mule ESB
Mule is an integration platform or rather a framework of the company MuleSoft Inc. to enable communication between different applications. Currently, the Mule ESB is available in two editions. In contrast to the Mule ESB Community edition the Mule ESB Enterprise edition is associated with license costs. According to its community, Mules ESB is the most used open source ESB. Because of the lightweight architecture, especially Java developers, according to the supplier, in a relatively short time, can integrate applications. The Mule ESB provides service components to realise a pipes and filter architecture. These components represent mediation steps, which can be orchestrated. Beside a central ESB solution other connectivity infrastructures could be achieved, like point-to-point or client server. Supported transport protocols are for example HTTP/S, FTP and JMS. Similar to a lot of commercial solutions, Mule allows implementation of federated ESBs on basis of the communication between existing Mule ESBs. Furthermore Mule instances could be used in other frameworks for example in a JBI container or a J2EE application. Even BPEL could be integrated in a process server. All supported integration features are listed on the official mule website. more...JBoss Enterprise Service Bus
JBoss ESB is a flexible connectivity infrastructure for integrating applications and services, which enables the development of service-oriented architectures (SOA). JBoss ESB could be regarded as the basis for JBoss middleware which performance it increases through reducing the number and complexity of interfaces. It’s a community-driven project. Since the foundation of the project in April 2007 the commercial and the open source edition exist simultaneous. Current release is 4.7. The roadmap emphasises a stronger commitment in the development of standards, to ensure compatibility particular with IBM SCA components and JBI. more...Sun Open Enterprise Service Bus
Sun Open ESB is totally based on open standards. Beside JBI and Java EE, SOAP, JMS and WS-* specifications are supported. In contrast to other open source ESBs, Open ESB provides a comfortable tooling on basis of NetBeans to develop integration solutions. Aim of the project is, to improve the efficiency of developers through simplifying their common tasks. This is achieved through the delivery of components. For example the BPEL SE component can be used to create asynchronous web service calls in short-time due to visual tools. more...WSO2 Enterprise Service Bus
The WSO2 Enterprise Service Bus runtime environment is based on the lightweight Apache Synapse ESB. Supported transport protocols are HTTP/S, JMS, SFTP and more. The focus was set on optimising the resource utilisation on runtime during the implementation. Manipulation of messages, such as transformation, splitting or aggregation is possible through mediators. Chained mediators are called sequences. To create own mediators, the mediator library, a framework of WSO2 ESB, can be used. Nice to know, that WSO2 Enterprise Service Bus provides a graphical view to configure, manage and monitor the ESB. High Availability is achieved through Load Balancing and Fail over Routing. more...
